I was just an average kid at school
Everything felt so void and null, not to mention dull

But one day I gave a white slip to my father
And went somewhere that school couldn't bother

Last Wednesday night, I prepared without fright
I packed my backpack like an ace - what did you expect it to be, a f****** suitcase?

I had a good night's sleep and I didn't make a peep.
I took a nice cold freezing shower and my clothes came from a heap.

I said goodbye to my dad and I hopped onto my bus.
It took us down to Cherry Hill with no muss and no fuss.

YALE School Cherry Hill, such a wonderful building.
But as I waited for the bus to come, my patience was rather wilting.

We stepped onto our fancy bus for we had paid our fees without being whiny.
It wasn't particularly fancy, but it was definitely clean and shiny.

We talk each other's ears off but we always trust each other.
Most students have a sister and/or brother but I only had a mother.

We reached our destination, it was just a big old dormhouse
We watched some Cartoon Network with the big cat and the mouse

We went down the streets a few times to order pizza, books and frozen yogurt.
There was also a store for cheesy science knick-knacks, but those are for the nerds, I mean birds.

We played boring video games like Mario Party and we ate a bunch of meat for dinner.
I had to clean up a lot of it, but I deserve it anyway, I'm a sinner.

My friends went back into the living room and watched that boring-as-hell Wolverine movie,
While I reminisced over our fun times playing foosball and read the only chapter I would ever read of The Great Gatsby.

The book was a boring piece of crap.
But it got so much misleading praise, I should have known it was a trap.

I decided I would get at least a cent of my fifteen dollar investment's worth on this book even if it actually turned out to be worth less than ninety-nine pence.
So therefore I somehow managed to endure all the way through the book's first chapter even though it totally sucked a witch's tit, no offense.

I took a shower, the shampoo gave me super douche power, word!
Thankfully, I went to bed soon afterward.

It was difficult to sleep that night.
The room was extremely cold and I ended up using my mattress cover as an extra blanket, much to my fright.

I also could not stop staring at the absolutely incredible and brilliant display of glowing red lights which came from the phone towers off in the scenery.
These towers looked incredibly shadowy and ominous at six A.M. in the morning, and Manayunk doesn't have much greenery.

Anyway, after surviving that long, painful night, my reward was...nothing.
I went down to the kitchen, ate a few bagels for breakfast, and greeted my friends...or something. (Philadelphia's weird like that)

We all boarded the bus and headed back to YALE.
Sure, it was still Thursday, but at any rate it's certainly better than going to jail.

As our bus ride crossed the border from Philadelphia and headed back to Cherry Hill YALE's gate, I realized in a bizarre twist of fate that my current home of New Jersey was a very crappy state.

I'm a lonely student, back home I arrive.
Guess I'll surf the Internet for the rest of my life.
A poem about my overnight field trip to Manayunk District, Philadelphia.
